An Answer to Rebellion

*Before reading please understand that this is a satirical piece*

So lately I've been thinking about "sin" and what makes us want it. Is it because the thing is inherently sinful, like drugs or sex in high school, or is it because its fun to be a rebel, to go against the rules? There are some addictions, like pornography, that actually can classify as a chemical addiction because the addict is actually addicted to the adrenaline that is released when they are doing what they have been taught is a terrible, secret sin. As a result people raised in strict religious homes that condemn pornography have a significantly higher chance of becoming pron addicts than those who are raised that it is acceptable. I'm not saying I don't think looking at pornography is wrong, I'm just questioning the reaction to it and other "unspeakable sins."

I have an answer for this societal issue: Make a new list of what is wrong and what is right, leaving the list of things we REALLY think are wrong off of both lists. Of course all of society would have to commit to this same list or it would never work. If there was no fear that someone else would talk to our children about sex and drugs, then we would never have to either. Instead, every parent should sit down and have a conversation about not wearing socks above the knees. Another great rule could be wearing earrings that measure longer than an inch. Instead of condemning fast food lets just ignore it and instead condemn food of little nutritional value- either for the good or the bad.

Suddenly the black market is consumed with buying and selling knee highs and hoop earrings and parents greatest worry is their teenagers hiding in the basement with their friends passing around a bag of celery.

So...Does this have anything to do with the conversation we had last night? :)
